Riccardo Rocco is a Doctoral Candidate in the Research Hub at Ottobock Healthcare Products GmbH in Vienna.
As part of the DN AERIALIST project, his research focuses on advancing prosthetic limb control through AI/ML-driven strategies that ensure adaptable and safe use in real-world conditions. To this end, he designs reliable control schemes that dynamically respond to daily-life challenges, with a strong emphasis on safety assurance through extensive testing and evaluation, benchmarking these innovative approaches against current state-of-the-art control methods for prosthetics.
Riccardo obtained his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and his M.Sc. in Mechatronics & Robotics both from Politecnico di Milano, exploring FES solutions for limb rehabilitation, control optimization and robotic hardware design.
His research interests include human-centered medical engineering, advanced control theory, and integrated systems for biomechatornics.
