Mohamed Othman is a Doctoral Candidate in the Medical Technology research group at the Institute of Mechatronic Systems, Leibniz University Hannover. Within the DN–AERIALIST project, his research focuses on developing a biomimetic model-based reinforcement learning (MBRL) framework enabling rapid online adaptation to individual dynamics in wearable neuroprosthetic systems. His work aims to bridge the simulation-to-reality gap by emphasizing fast, data-efficient online learning tailored to rehabilitative applications for individuals with motor impairments. By leveraging motor primitives, he seeks to improve personalization and efficiency in human–robot co-adaptation.
Mohamed obtained his Master’s degree in Intelligent Robotic Systems through the Erasmus Mundus IFRoS joint program, with specialization in artificial intelligence, control, and autonomous robotics. His research interests include FES-based neuroprosthetics, MBRL, motor-primitive-inspired control, and            adaptive rehabilitation technologies.
