DC9: Situation-aware controller selection for robot-assisted overground gait training

Project: Situation-aware controller selection for robot-assisted overground gait training (WP3)

Host institution: UNIBAS (Switzerland)

Supervisor: Prof. G. Rauter (UNIBAS, Switzerland)

Co-supervisor(s): Prof. P Rostalski (FGH-IESE), Dr. D. Surdilovic (RSM)

Objectives:

Close the loop of robot-assisted gait rehabilitation supported by situation-aware controllers that are selected during task performance by real-time machine learning algorithms.

Expected Results:

Understanding the influence of closing the loop for ML based controller switching on robustness of inference and user performance.

Planned secondment(s):

  1. FHG ITEM (3 months, M24-M26): Exploring therapy assisting systems from Reha Stim Medtec AG for neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation, with P Rostalski (KPI: joint conference paper)
  2. RSM (3 months, M38-M40): Using the Float infrastructure in Reha stim, DC9 will validate and compare the different control algo- rithms from DC6 and DC7, with D. Surdilovic. (KPI: joint journal paper)

Enrolment in Doctoral degree: Doctoral School of University of Basel (Switzerland)

Required profile: Master’s degree in the field of Biomedical Engineering or Robotics
